CEO Hat in hand, I strolled into the Bergen County Performing Arts Center on the brisk Friday evening of November 13th, 2015, racked with anticipation. After picking up my ticket at the will call window, an older woman led me to my seat nearly at the foot of the stage: row three, seat one. As we walked down the left aisle of the cavernous auditorium, the stage already cast in the indigo of a warm blue lighting, she looked back briefly with a smile and said “you looked excited to be here.”
Indeed, I was excited. The Sinatra Centennial Celebration Concert had arrived in the Garden State, hosted by the Chairman of the Board’s equally talented son, Frank Sinatra, JR. It had been more than seven years since I last saw FSJ live in concert, and from accounts I received from fellow Sinatra fans who saw the program in the weeks prior, I was in for one hell of a show.

CEO This week on “Pearce’s Picks,” we look over the sound of one of the great Italian pop crooners of our time, the great Al Martino, a career in music that spanned more than fifty years.
While to mainstream audiences, he is today remembered fondly for his brief but memorable portrayal as distant Corleone family member and troubled multifaceted entertainer Johnny Fontane in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 motion picture “The Godfather” (a character carried over from the Mario Puzo novel undoubtedly based on the notoriety of a brooding Frank Sinatra).

CEO A band can be described as a group of musicians who play various instruments, percussion, wind, brass, or strings, in one united chord. Each of the instruments is different; unique in sound and appearance, yet together, they combine to make beautiful music, a melody that can stir the soul and arouse to action. We dance, we sing along, we remember the good times that we had when we hear our favorite songs, or they may be a marker to a particular event in our lives. Nevertheless, music is powerful, arousing us to differing emotions and action.

In their attempt to help Joshy deal with the recent turn of events, the guys turn the getaway into a raucous weekend filled with drugs, booze, debauchery, and hot tubs. CEO I’ve been listening to the music of Frank Sinatra regularly since my formative years of high school. In my sophomore year, I received my first Sinatra album as a Christmas gift from a classmate, a compact disc of Sinatra’s next to final album at Capitol Records, the jovial 1961 release “Come Swing With Me,” with Billy May and his orchestra. Riding home from school for holiday break, I popped the disc into my amber-colored (and now fiercely antiquated) Sony CD Walkman.
Listening to the sounds of May’s lit brass section firing off stinging notes from both sides of my headphones on the opening track, “Day By Day,” it was truly the first time I had listened to a Sinatra song that wasn’t considered for (or ever part of) a greatest hits’ compilation.

CEO It looks like Lucy’s got that Vitametavegamin taste out of her mouth – she’s finally smiling! New Lucy was unveiled this week to the delight of many fans. The bronze work of art in the town of Celoron, New York, that made a menacing figure out of the iconic (and quite beautiful) comedian Lucille Ball is no more. The original statue caused quite a few gasps during it’s 2009 unveiling as it was a quite frightening and unflattering representation of the comedic beauty.
