The star of movies such as “City of Joy” and “East Is East” suffered a heart attack early Friday at his Mumbai home, according to a close friend.”He was a torchbearer of Indian cinema,” actor Anupam Kher told CNN, describing Puri as “a wonderful friend and an amazing person.”
Puri was known for his versatility and appeal across global markets. He appeared not only in mainstream Bollywood movies and regional Indian cinema but also British and Hollywood productions.
Puri was one of the lead stars of 2014’s “The Hundred-Foot Journey” and also appeared in 2007’s “Charlie Wilson’s War” and 2012’s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist.”

Things could have been a lot worse for David Spade after he was involved in a pretty horrific car accident on Wednesday, January 4th.
The actor’s tricked out Range Rover was destroyed after he was hit by another vehicle on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Somehow, David seems to have only suffered minor bumps and bruises, but he is getting checked out by a doctor.

About a year ago, 84-year-old country legend Mel Tillis was in critical condition following complications from colon surgery. The entire 2016 year was rocky for his health, but his daughter, Pam, kept country fans at ease with updates about her legendary father. Some parts of the year were scary when she begged fans for prayers, but later posts reassured us Mel was feeling much better. She even went on to say that he was sitting up, watching TV!
“It bears repeating how much your prayers mean to our family…We’ll keep you posted if there is any change, but right now we’re just trying to fatten him up and get him strong!!! Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers,” she wrote on Facebook in April 2016.

Old Shuck is the name given to a black dog being found primarily in the folk lores of the British Isle, often said to be associated with the Devil or a Hell-hound. Its appearance was regarded as a portent of death. It is generally supposed to be larger than a normal dog, and often has large, glowing eyes. It is often associated with electrical storms (such as Black Shuck’s appearance at Bungay, Suffolk), and also with crossroads, places of execution and ancient pathways. Throughout European mythology, dogs have been associated with death. Examples of this are the Garmr and Cerberus, who were in some way guardians of the underworld.

British pop singer Rebecca Ferguson says she has been invited to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration, but her response may not be the RSVP the President-elect’s team were expecting.
The former UK X-Factor runner-up said she would only accept the invitation on the condition that she could perform “Strange Fruit” — a song protesting racism in 1930s America, made famous by Billie Holiday.
In a statement posted to the singer’s Twitter account on Monday night Ferguson said: “I’ve been asked and this is my answer. If you allow me to sing “strange fruit” a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial. A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. As I’ve stated over the last nine months or so that this column has been in existence, there would be nothing new here to learn for a die-hard Sinatra fanatic, but the overall response to my writings has been rewarding and positive from all facets of the Sinatra fan spectrum, and it has been graciously appreciated. To close out this tumultuous year of 2016, we turn once again to the expansive song catalog of Francis Albert Sinatra, a collection of studio recordings that extends across three record labels and numbers somewhere in the low to mid thousands.

With a big middle finger to 2016, the rock’n’roll legend chooses his 90th birthday to announce that he is releasing a new album next year, titled Chuck
Roll over Frank Ocean and tell Beyoncé the news. Chuck Berry proved that the surprise album announcement is not solely the preserve of young artists when he announced the release of his first album in 38 years.
Details of the record were scanty, but a statement said that it would consist mainly of new material written and produced by Berry. It was recorded in St Louis, the musician’s hometown.

TMZ has reported that the legendary Debbie Reynolds, has passed away just a day after her daughter actress Carrie Fisher, died at at the age of 60, from a heart attack. Initial reports are saying it was from a stroke. Reynolds was 84.
This is an absolutely a tragic event and I cannot express in words how much my heart goes out to the Reynolds and Fisher Family at this time. May God bless their family in their time of grief.

Funny comedian & actor Ricky Harris died yesterday at the age of 54. His manager Cindy Ambers confirmed the news. Harris, whose numerous credits in television and on film include Heat, Poetic Justice and Everyone Hates Chris to name a few.
Harris also worked with Snoop Dogg on his rap albums. Snoop, Ice Cube and Chuck D, among many others, paid their respects on social media.

Carrie Fisher died on Tuesday, December 27, four days after suffering a heart attack. The Star Wars icon was 60.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” family spokesman Simon Halls said in a statement to People. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
