Now, an exciting new protocol has received approval from the FDA and WIRB (Western Institutional Review Board) to conduct a Phase I/II clinical trial on humans for treatment of solid tumor (metastic) cancers using a treatment designed to “supercharge the patient’s immune system and “zap” the cancer cells, destroying them.”

Leading the investigation is Dr. Dipnarine Maharaj, Director of the South Florida Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Institute in Boynton Beach, Florida. A hematologist and oncologist, Dr. Maharaj has been successfully treating patients with blood cancers for years using stem cell treatments. The clinical trials now underway target solid tumor cancers such as breast, cervical, stomach, pancreatic, lung, and melanoma.

I’m more of a ‘chug along on the water with no destination’ type of guy. I love the serenity, the beauty and the excitement of simply exploring…. that brings me to talking about:

The 2012 Olympic Games. I’ve always loved to watch the Parade of Nations and see the mix of countries and culture. I believe it suggests to all that we can indeed get together in peace if we really wanted to… And its so satisfying to watch the magic that happens when an athlete digs deep and comes out with a Gold, Silver or Bronze… especially when it was not expected. It’s what I love about life and the Olympic Games magnifiy that idea….

Oscar winning actress Celeste Holm who rose to Broadway fame in the hit play “OKLAHOMA”, and won the Academy Award for “GENTLEMEN’S AGREEMENT”, died yesterday at the age of 95.

Holm had been hospitalized about two weeks ago with dehydration after a fire in actor Robert De Niro’s apartment in the same Manhattan building. She had asked her husband on Friday to bring her home, and she spent her final days with her husband, Frank Basile, and other relatives and close friends by her side, said Amy Phillips, a great-niece of Holm’s.
