Men & Chicken is a darkly hilarious slapstick comedy starring Mads Mikkelsen (“Hannibal,” ingeniously cast against type) about a pair of socially-challenged siblings who discover they are adopted half-brothers in their late father’s videotaped will. Their journey in search of their true father takes them to the small, insular Danish island of Ork, where they stumble upon three additional half-brothers-each also sporting hereditary harelips and lunatic tendencies-living in a dilapidated mansion overrun by barn animals. Initially unwelcome by their newfound kin, the two visitors stubbornly wear them down until they’re reluctantly invited to stay. As the misfit bunch get to know each other, they unwittingly uncover a deep family secret that ultimately binds them together.

Shapeshifters: Supernatural Entities or Mental Illness?

March 15th, 2016 CEO

ShapeBy Kristi O’Toole

When you think of shapeshifters, typically a werewolf comes to mind, at least for me it did. I say ‘did’, because once I began research for my last supernatural novel, ‘Winds of Change’, I was surprised to see the broad range covered by these mystical creatures. The idea of shapeshifting has been present since antiquity and may be common in all cultures. It is present in the oldest forms of totemism and shamanism where the shapeshifting is usually induced by the act of a deity. The idea continued through the Middle Ages, where the cause of shapeshifting is usually a sorcerer or witch, and into the modern period. It holds a common place in modern fantasy, children’s literature, and works of popular culture.

Beetlejuice II: Will The Ghost With The Most Make His Triumphant Return?

March 13th, 2016 CEO

BJBy Kristi O’Toole

“Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!” Although I know that no matter how hard I chant the name of everyone’s all time favorite ghost, Michael Keaton will not suddenly appear before me. But it certainly has never stopped me from trying.

In the past week there has been a lot of speculation and rumors circulating that a Beetlejuice II is in fact headed our way. Those fans whose heads actually didn’t explode, went on to learn that Keaton and Winona Ryder were totally on board and would be returning too. As if we weren’t excited enough already!

March 10th, 2016 CEO

width="500"

By Kristi O’Toole

We’ve all heard of the Amityville murders. On November 13, 1974, police discovered six members of the DeFeo family-father, mother and four of their five children, shot and killed execution style at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York. Now no matter how you look it or what your belief is, when six people are murdered it’s a horror; jut not necessarily the horror Hollywood turned it in to. Or is it?

Former First lady, actress and mother, Nancy Reagan has died today at age of 94 of congestive heart failure at her home in Los Angeles which was confirmed by her spokeswoman, Joanne Drake of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

Her husband, President Ronald Reagan (1981-1989) was a very popular President and Nancy was always at his side. No matter what your party affiliation was or political views, you had to admire the loyalty she had to her husband to his last days in June 2004 when he died.

“Some people call me Nessy, some people just don’t know. Some people wait for days and days to see if I’m going to show. I’ve been around for ages, much longer than you think. But when I swim across the loch you’ll miss me if you blink.” (A child’s poem)

From the dawn of time there have been stories of monsters and creatures that lurk in the darkness of the forests or depths of the oceans. While the foundations of some of these creatures are built on evidence and hardcore truths, others are based purely on myth and make believe.

Greatest Song of All Time Vol. 2: “Good Vibrations”

March 4th, 2016 CEO

By Ian Murphy

After the Beach Boys completely upped the ante (in response to the Beatles’ Rubber Soul) in rock composition with Pet Sounds, lead writers Brian Wilson and Mike Love wanted to push the envelope even further. The result was “Good Vibrations”, a “pocket symphony” (as it was dubbed by publicist Derek Taylor) that was completely uncharted territory. Nothing prior to it’s release was in the same class in regards to a balance between complexity of composition and songcraft. It did not make it onto Pet Sounds, as “Good Vibrations” was not fully finished at the time of the album’s release in early 1966. Instead, it was put out as a single that fall. 1966 was the opening salvo of the true Rock revolution that was to follow in the upcoming years. At the forefront was a Brian Wilson at the peak of his powers. If Paul McCartney and John Lennon consider you an equal and a rival as a songwriter, your must be onto something. It isn’t coincidental that the next Beatle album was Sgt. Pepper and it’s clear that Wilson’s opus “Good Vibrations” provided a significant challenge for the Fab Four to match.

It’s A Good Day To Be A Wildcat: High School Musical To Return For Fourth Installment

March 2nd, 2016 CEO

Disney Channel announced this afternoon that it’s bringing back the greatest musical film franchise of all time, and immediately, fans minds started racing.

Given that the new movie is designed to introduce us to the “new” Wildcats and their rivalry with the West High Knights, it wouldn’t be reasonable to expect a return of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, or any of the other bright shiny faces from the original movies. Even so, we’ll never stop dreaming that it’s possible.

Sad news to report today.  George Kennedy who won an Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Dragline, in the 1967 movie Cool Hand Luke, has died at the age of 91 from a heart related condition.  There are so many great roles he played over the years and he was beloved by the movie industry and fans alike.

Inexplicable Disappearances: Foul Play or Paranormal Phenomena III?

February 29th, 2016 CEO

paranormal-why-are-we-scaredBy Kristi O’Toole

In this third and final installment of inexplicable disappearances I feel I’ve saved one of the best for last. When one person mysteriously vanishes we’re quick to lay blame on kidnapping or some fashion of foul play or simply walking away to start a new life, but when a group disappear, well that just isn’t so simple. Add an isolated Scottish isle and three lighthouse workers and that just makes one hunky dory mystery.
