Witches, Warlocks and Curses Oh My: The Haunting of The Joshua Ward House

January 28th, 2016 CEO

wardhouseBy Kristi O’Toole

From coast to coast it seems every state has their own famous haunted location; whether it be a private residence or popular hotel, every location is a local legend. For some us, the idea of a haunted house brings to mind a creepy dilapidated home on a hill, more than likely surrounded by headstones, bats and black cats. However, in most cases the opposite would be true with some of the most terrifying hauntings coming from the most unassuming properties.

One such haunted location belongs to, Joshua Ward House, Salem, Massachusetts. Finding a person that hasn’t heard of the Salem Witch Trials would be a difficult, if not impossible task. During the short time period of February 1692 and May 1693, twenty people were found guilty and executed with another one hundred and fifty accused of witchcraft; easily one of the most famous cases of mass hysteria throughout history. All but one were hanged.

January 26th, 2016 CEO

abe-vigoda-3By Dave Siderski

Veteran actor Abe Vigoda passed away today after a brief illness. Vigoda, the son of Jewish immigrants, was born on February 24, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY and began acting in the late 1940’s. After gaining some notoriety playing various roles on Broadway in the 1960’s, his career really began to take off in the 1970’s. First, he landed the role of gangster Salvatore Tessio, close friend of Vito “Don” Corleone, in Francis Ford Coppola’s movie classic “The Godfather” in 1972. A few years later, he was cast as Detective Sergeant Phil Fish in the classic ABC sitcom, Barney Miller. Vigoda’s rugged, sullen appearance along with his dry wit made him a terrific fit for both characters.

In A Closet or Under A Bed, Are Ghosts Real or All In the Head? NewzBreaker Goes to the Experts Brian Hensley & Nick McWethy!

January 25th, 2016 CEO

newzbreakerExclusive Interview by Kristi O’Toole

From my first paranormal encounter at the age of six, I’ve never wavered in my beliefs that there is more out there than just the mundane of day to day living. I’m not saying that everyone who passes away comes back as ghosts, haunting us when we sleep or when we’re home alone; but what I am saying is that in many cases of reported hauntings there is irrefutable evidence that something inexplicable has in fact taken place.

I very clearly remember my childhood encounter just as if it happened yesterday. It was bed time and I had been instructed to head that way and wait for my mother to come in and say my prayers with me. As I was adjusting my blanket something drew my attention to my closet doors, when I looked over I was startled to see a man standing there watching me. Initially I was struck with fear as there was a stranger in my room, but with a slight smile from him my anxieties instantly vanished. I knew he wasn’t there to hurt me.

Imagination, Coincidence or Merely ‘Overre-acting’? Can the Role Really Get Into the Actor?

January 22nd, 2016 CEO

poltergeist-main_ooutjmBy Kristi O’Toole

As we all know the making of a Hollywood blockbuster can take many months or even years to produce; but have we ever given any thought to what the long term affects could be on those involved in the making of a horror film? Maybe as it turns out dealing with things of a supernatural nature can affect more than just the imagination.

After discussing, ‘THE EXORCIST’ last time, I feel it appropriate to begin with that particular movie. Over the past forty years there have been rumors circulating that child star Linda Blair, then only thirteen years old, suffered from a complete mental breakdown after the filming of the movie. While she has come out many times and refuted those accusations, what she couldn’t deny was her addiction to alcohol and drugs after her time on the set and the release of the film. Okay, sure there are a lot of child stars that get messed up after great success, but not all can say their breakout role has haunted them for the past four decades.

Glenn Frey Tribute: Musical Titan Now Belongs to the City Up There

January 20th, 2016 CEO

Glenn FBy Ian Murphy

Lemmy. Bowie. Frey. Three titans of rock music, and all gone within one month of each other like three very bright lights being shut off at the same time. Click, click, and click. The music world is darker and is hurting with the losses of these great men, all of which were beloved, respected and revered for their massive contributions to popular music. Lemmy was the ultimate rebel, an uncompromising beast who did it his way all the way to the end. David Bowie was the consummate chameleon, effortlessly moving between artistic mediums. Glenn Frey? He was a songwriting genius in the visual package of the guy next door, yet was much more. He was a driven man who knew the worth of his talent, was very adaptable musically, and had an uncanny ability to craft incredible rock songs.

The Exorcism of Roland Doe: Fact or Elaborate Hoax?

January 19th, 2016 CEO

exorcistBy Kristi O’Toole

I would like to debut with a bang by discussing one of the most infamous paranormal cases of all time, the alleged demonic possession of a young Maryland boy in 1949. That’s right, some of you have already muttered the words that will forever send chills down the spines of all those who have watched the movie, ‘THE EXORCIST’. Released in 1973, over two decades after the young boy’s horrific ordeal, one of the most profitable horror movies ever made, this story of an exorcism is based loosely on actual events.

To this day few realize that the movie, and Peter Blatty’s novel of the same name, are based on a true story, a month’s long exorcism of a 14-year-old boy, who priests gave the pseudonym ‘Roland Doe’.

paranormal-why-are-we-scaredBy Kristi O’ Toole

The world’s fascination with the paranormal and supernatural goes back many centuries with countless recorded cases of unexplained events or unusual people presumed to be demons, witches or something even worse. Most tales of paranormal activity will be waved away as nonsense, a mistake of the mind, a trick of the light, or else an outright lie. But then there are some incidences that just cannot be ignored or blamed on the cat. Personal encounters that others cannot or just will not understand, incidences that have forever changed how we look at the world; and no matter how much we believe what we saw, explaining it to someone else and making them accept it for what it is a whole other story.
