No one likes hearing the phone ring in the middle of the night; it even seems to have a more ominous tone – or maybe it’s just the jingling of our nerves as we pick it up. When Jackie Carpenter uneasily answered a call at 2:00 a.m. – she could never have imagined what she was about to hear. Jackie’s worst nightmare had just become a reality. She knew her son had been plagued by copper thefts at his work site and, on the advice of a policeman, had armed himself and hid on the property to try to catch the thieves. They showed up that night.
A Cry for Justice by Triple Horse Studios is the true story of Jackie’s son Jason who was falsely accused of murder after the gun he was holding, to keep the thieves there until police arrived, accidentally fired killing one of the men. When Jackie hears that the prosecution is seeking a life sentence, her world spins into turmoil; she could never have imagined the nightmare journey ahead in trying to free her son.

Legendary singer Patty Andrews 1/3 of The Andrew Sisters and then, a successful solo career died Wednesday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 94.
The Andrews Sisters, who included Patty, Maxene and Laverne, were one of the biggest girl groups in the history of the music industry, scoring more than 90 chart hits themselves and two dozen more with their frequent singing partner, Bing Crosby.
Their songs became standards of the era, often associated with World War II.

Adult movie performer Nicky Ferrari was one of the many popular ladies at the 2013 AEE Expo at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino who had fans lined up two deep to meet her.
There was one fan there that had the rest of the people in line laughing until they hit the floor. He claimed he wrote for a website called Youfool.com, and liked to wear Nicky’s underwear even though he was so large, he could not fit in them no matter how much weight he told the folks in line he lost. NewzBreaker checked out youfool.com and as expected, it was a fake website. Really? Really? Imagine that! What’s next from this assclown? A job where he posts on Myspace he makes six figures a year?
Kentaro Hagiwara Wins 2013 Sundance/NHK International Filmmaker Award
January 28th, 2013 CEO Sundance Institute and NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) have announced Kentaro Hagiwara, director of the upcoming film, Spectacled Tiger, as winner of the 2013 Sundance/NHK International Filmmaker Award. The award was presented at a private ceremony at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Created in 1996 to celebrate 100 years of cinema, the annual award recognizes and supports a visionary filmmaker on his or her next film. Sundance Institute staff works closely with the winner throughout the year, providing creative and strategic support through the development, financing and production of their films.
Films previously supported by this award include Beasts of the Southern Wild, by Benh Zeitlin, and May in the Summer, by Cherien Dabis, which had its world premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize Awarded to Computer Chess at 2013 Sundance Film Festival

Sundance Institute today announced the winner of the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, as well as the recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Lab Fellowship, presented through the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program.
These activities, as well as a panel at the Festival, are part of the Sundance Institute Science-in-Film Initiative, which is made possible by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. 2013 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Alfred P. Sloan Science in Film initiative, which supports the development and exhibition of new independent film projects that explore science and technology themes or that depict scientists, engineers and mathematicians in engaging and innovative ways. The initiative includes the Sundance Institute / Alfred P. Sloan Commissioning Grant, and a recipient for 2013 will be announced soon.
