On a recent slug ride into work, I rode in a vehicle that had black sheets on both the back windows and rear window, which I’m sure is probably a moving violation and of course looks like it rode straight out of creepy town. As I’ve mentioned in my previous slug columns on NewzBreaker I’m already checking out the vehicle before I get to the line and I see to my relief there’s a toddler in the back seat. I get in and the Disney movie Moana is playing at volume 100 and the back of the vehicle is pitch-black. Why does it have to be that dark? Is your child a vampire? I start laughing to myself as I pictured a little vampire child in the car seat sucking on a blood filled sippy cup. When my daughter was little and she cried about the sun in her face I’d just throw a blanket on her, I never felt the need to build a blanket fort in the back of my vehicle.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos a Brazilian born MMA fighter, skilled in Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu disciplines, 145 lbs of danger with a pony tail. Cyborg hasn’t just showed up on the MMA scene she’s been fighting professionally since 2008. She’s fought and destroyed some very good fighters, such as Gina Carano and Holly Holm. Her record is better than Ronda Rousey, Gina Carano, and she only matches Miesha Tate with 19 total wins. She IS the best female MMA fighter and she’s not even a household name like Rousey and Carano. Why, because she’s not a sex symbol and therefore UFC does not promote her like they did the others.

Although it may seem hard to believe, gambling didn’t just appear hand-in-hand with the internet. There was a time before Facebook, Google and Twitter ruled the world, a time when people used to play gambling games on the streets of our towns and cities. Today our phones and tablets provide us with access to a multitude of online gambling opportunities, opportunities that past generations could never have dreamed about. There is not much demand for penny pitching competitions when you can go to sites like reelbonanza.com to find out where to play the latest video slots or live dealer roulette games, or place in-play bets on live soccer from your phone. That being said, whenever people gather together there will always be the chance that a friendly wager or two will take place!

The beauty of the world we live in is that it’s diverse and gives us the opportunity to choose between A and B. However, despite its diversity, I think that there are many people who miss out on some of the finer things the world has to offer simply because of the choices they make. One example of this relates to playing games. I am not saying we should all be gamers or gamblers but we all need to engage in one form of game or the other in our lifetime.
Here’s a list of some of the best games the world has to offer. As a bonus, they’re all cheap, easy and quick to play.

Thank goodness Christmas is over! Every year I have to force myself to be in the “Christmas Spirit”. I’m not a scrooge but I just don’t have any extra joy on the holidays. There are many parts of the Christmas I enjoy; I know all the Christmas carols, I tear up some cookies, I love the decorations and the stories but I just can’t stand the people around Christmas. How can you be a dick to me all year around and a few days in December you decided to be nice just because it’s Christmas, that’s some bullshit. I’m nice all year around don’t expect some extra niceties from me on Christmas.

Twenty-one years ago this month, hit men gunned down mobster Herbert “Fat Herbie” Blitzstein at his Las Vegas townhouse.
Blitzstein, who had been an enforcer in Southern Nevada years earlier for crime boss Anthony “The Ant” Spilotro, was shot in the head at his home on a January night in 1997.
The execution-style shooting ended not only the stocky, 62-year-old mobster’s life, but, to many, it also served as a symbolic endpoint to the Mafia’s lucrative run in Las Vegas, lasting five decades. By the mid-1990s, corporate control of the casinos, along with law enforcement victories, had forced most Mafia figures out of Southern Nevada.

In each calendar year, football gives us some crazy skills, dope players and some of the world performances. These sometimes may come from small teams that defy the odds to do the unimaginable like what we saw as Leicester City won the English Premier League with 5000-1 odds. However, sometimes the big boys do the work providing us with some great viewing spectacle as we saw this year with Spanish giants Real Madrid winning for the first time in the club’s history, five trophies in one calendar year.

The first MobWorld Summit is set for this summer in Las Vegas.
The dates are June 15-17, with plans for a cocktail gathering on Friday night, June 15, then tours of mob sites and The Mob Museum on Saturday, capped off by a dinner that night with speakers and book signings. On Sunday morning, Father’s Day, we’ll gather for breakfast and hear from additional speakers.
I’m working on a formal schedule, with hotels and restaurants for our events, that I’ll post in a future Newzbreaker column and on the Las Vegas Mafia History Facebook page. I’m also working on a MobWorld website that will go live soon with all that information and more.
