Classic, Little-Known Secrets Of Hollywood Icons Revealed

After collecting literally hundreds of vintage tales of Hollywood legends over the years, Stephen Schochet not only wrote a book that everyone could enjoy on the glamorous, and not so glamorous, stories of Hollywood icons, but also created audiobooks. As explained in an interview with Reuters, this entrepreneur told two kinds of stories on his tour bus; origin stories – telling how things we take for granted came to be, and funny anecdotes. He not only read a lot of books to find his material, but also tried to meet people who were connected to the famous (like housekeepers) that he could garner some tidbits from! His book is a special blend of biography, history and legends that covers scandalous yarns on some of Hollywood’s greatest characters – from John Wayne to Marlon Brando. The eBook also covers little-known vignettes about such diverse genres from classic westerns like Unforgiven to vintage superhero movies like Superman and Batman.
Hollywood Stories: Short, Entertaining Anecdotes About the Stars and Legends of the Movies! (Hollywood Stories Publishing) is packed with wild and wonderful short tales on many famous stars, movies and directors – anyone who has been a part of the world’s most fascinating and unpredictable industry!
Schochet is also the author and narrator of two audiobooks. The first is Tales of Hollywood which started as a way to highlight the origins of how famous things in Hollywood began, combined with humorous tales about the stars – for which he masterfully provided background music and sound effects to add realism. The second project, Fascinating Walt Disney, was a huge hit – telling stories of how Walt created Mickey Mouse, Disneyland, Snow White, and all his endearing characters, causing the host of one radio show to dub Schochet ‘The best storyteller about Hollywood we have ever heard.’
A Powerful Story Of How Animals Help Children With Special Needs Find Friends – Animal Lover Georgie Supports This!

Kari Dunn Buron devoted more than 30 years of her life to teaching children afflicted with autism spectrum disorders, a condition that affects 1 in every 88 children born in the U.S. today. Buron understands firsthand the tremendous impact service animals can have in calming the anxieties of children with ASD, and that’s why Clare, her own service dog, accompanies her on school visits. Clare is the inspiration for Buron’s latest book, Adalyn’s Clare (AAPC Publishing), a heartwarming story that follows the adventures of a very smart but highly anxious fourth grader and her therapy dog.
The storyline for the book emerged after Clare attended her first session of Camp Discovery – a camp for youth with autism. Clare’s role involved supporting highly anxious campers who had a particularly difficult time making friends. The result was a series of social interaction routines that Clare performed, often ending in laughter, with Clare acting as the mediator!
Buron’s story is about Adalyn, a smart but lonely fourth grader, who is not very good at finding human friends but loves animals and is a whiz at science. Her favorite place in the whole world is the science room where her “animal best friends” live. In fact, Adalyn knows details about animals and the places they inhabit that most of us would never know or remember.

Going From Having It All To Having Nothing: A Journey Of Personal Awakening

The Sabbatical (Createspace), by Frederick Pinto, presents important questions to a generation that wants to have it all despite living in a rocky, continuously changing climate. Pinto weaves his own experiences in the music industry and thoughts on where Western society is headed into a story of personal awakening after a young man loses everything he valued.
Charles Barca spent six years getting it all. Set in the landscape of the drug-strewn, head-banging clubs and the slick offices of the New Creative Elite, Charles was the wildly successful owner of an online music company, had a relationship with a hot artist girlfriend, and had achieved local celebrity status—all of which came crashing down in one day. Before long, he is without friends, love, or meaning in life after he is removed as the resident genius of the company he himself founded, and seeks sanity and purpose in the cynical worlds of modern art and business.
The Sabbatical covers the following months of Charles’ life as he deals with self-loathing, drugs, traveling and mingling with acquaintances, both old and new. He must come face-to-face with major personal decisions as well as with ones for his company, as papers need to be signed and major labels jostle for his attention. However, he will only find clarity miles away in Brazil, as the noise around him subsides and he engages in a more authentic form of deeper self-evaluation.
Set in today’s post-apocalyptic music industry, The Sabbatical is part existential diary, part hedonistic travelogue, part music business intrigue, part anti-love story, and has been said to “take the philosophical novel into the age of social media.”
Not Just A Walk In The Park: Two Men Complete First-Ever Trek Around Death Valley National Park

This month, extreme endurance athlete Marshall Ulrich and firefighter Dave Heckman finished an unprecedented expedition, going on foot around the perimeter of Death Valley National Park during the hottest part of summer, completely unaided and unassisted. They began on July 22 and concluded 16 days later on August 7.
While others have trekked in this area, no one has attempted to circumnavigate the park, and certainly not during the height of summer when the threat of dehydration and heat stroke are dire. To grasp the gravity of this, consider that on the same day Ulrich and Heckman finished their trek, another accomplished ultrarunner died in Death Valley after just a few hours under the blazing sun.
To survive the scorching 120°+ temperatures and be self-sufficient even as they moved through remote areas, crossed six mountain ranges with a total of about 40,000 feet of elevation gain, and covered approximately 425 miles, the men had buried water, food, and supplies along their route two months earlier. Nearly all of the 37 caches were intact; in one, the water had leaked out, and a few were invaded by insects, but none of this created a shortage and they had enough water and food to sustain them throughout the journey.
Still, at 5’9″, 61-year-old Ulrich dropped 10 pounds, and Heckman, who is 5’11″ and age 38, dropped 25 pounds. They attribute the rapid weight loss to the exertion and adaptation required to complete 20 to 34 miles a day in an extreme environment.

Surge In Surrogacy And Hollywood Is Taking Notice – Shocking NEWS

There is a surge of births through surrogacy and Hollywood is taking notice. E! News host Guiliana Rancic has a son by a surrogate mother, born late last month. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick also have children born of a surrogate, as do Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
Crystal Travis has experienced the anguish of infertility herself, and selected surrogacy as a solution. “Every family has the right to realize their dreams of parenthood in an affordable and low stress way,” Travis says. She and her husband have a son born in India, and twins born two years later of the same surrogate mother. Because of their experience, Crystal Travis started a consulting service for intended parents.
Surrogacy costs about the same as adoption, but has an important benefit: the resulting baby has a genetic connection with one or both parents. Choosing a surrogate mother in India is a fraction of the cost of surrogacy in the United States. But it can be difficult for prospective parents navigating their way through the paperwork and ensuring their baby gets good prenatal care. Travis has helped dozens of people become parents through surrogacy in India, overseeing the pregnancy, birth and homecoming every step of the way. More than 25,000 babies are born through surrogate mothers in that country annually.

Bianca and I hope that each of you gives to the Red Cross, a very worthwhile agency that reaches out and helps the victims.
Well, I had a reader write in that his favorite show was the TV Classic “THE HONEYMOONERS” starring “The Great One” Jackie Gleason as the lovable buffoon Ralph Cramden, who was a bus driver in NYC. Many don’t realize this, but “THE HONEYMOONERS” was only on for two seasons (1955 – 1956). The reader wanted to know if I had I ever met Jackie Gleason and if so, did I have any recollections I could share?

One Woman’s Deadly Journey Through Revolutionary Iran (1970s)

The idea for award-winning author Libby Fischer Hellmann’s latest novel was somewhat of an accident. During a conversation with a friend, Libby mentioned she was drawn to stories of women whose choices have been taken away from them, and had wondered: Do they simply surrender and become victims, or do some survive and even triumph? It was then that she recalled a personal story told to her years before– about young lovers who become trapped by history, family, and the inherent conflict of a political and cultural revolution. Thus the idea was born for her latest book, A Bitter Veil (Allium Press of Chicago).
Grounded in extensive research, the story’s backdrop is the Iranian Revolution – one of the most documented periods of world history. After poring through dozens of documents, articles and films, and interviewing at least five Iranian-Americans who lived in Iran during the revolution, their experiences made it possible for Libby to tell ‘Anna’s story.’ The result is a compelling and convincing tale, seasoned with powerful characters, that grabs the reader from the first page and thrusts them into one woman’s worst nightmare – making for a read not easy to put down.
It all began with a line of Persian poetry…Anna and Nouri, both studying in Chicago, fall in love despite their very different backgrounds. Never really close to her parents, Anna is happy to return with Nouri to his native Iran, to be embraced by his wealthy family. Beginning their married life together in 1978, their world is abruptly turned upside down by the overthrow of the Shah, and the rise of the Islamic Republic.

The blockbuster transmedia experience The Bane of Yoto, by Joshua Viola, is now available to millions of subscribers for the Nvidia Tegra platform for Android. The app is based on Viola’s four-time award-winning novel of the same name, recently released by film, video game and TV licensing record label and music publisher FiXT.

Formerly a professor of Game Art and Design, and now art director for Leviathan Games, Viola’s astounding perception is unmistakable in this perfect blend of science fiction and fantasy that comes together in a breakneck paced, action-packed plot where dynamic, fully-developed original characters battle for their very existence in a brutal world.
Eric Roberts: Dark Knight, Mickey Rourke, Future & More – Acting Legend Speaks

Exclusive Interview by “Bad” Brad Berkwitt
“To sum it up in my opinion it’s about a matter of fact, but it’s an opinion about a matter of fact – artists aren’t running the show anymore – lawyers are. Lawyers know as much about movie making as they do about kindness.”—Eric Roberts
In 1978, at the age of ten years old, I went to see a movie with my late father Alvin Berkwitt. He loved movies and acted years before. He instilled in me a love for movies and more important, acting. The movie I saw was the KING OF THE GYPSIES. It was a fantastic movie that starred a then young 22 year old actor by the name of “Eric Roberts.” He owned the character of “Dave,” which my dad stressed to me. From that performance would come the rave reviews. In 1984, Eric would star opposite another fantastic actor by the name of “Mickey Rourke.” The movie was the cult classic “THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE.”
In the “Book of Berkwitt,” the Academy should have at least nominated Rourke for Best Actor and Roberts for Best Supporting Actor. I have read reviews where film critics panned Eric’s performance as an act of overacting. Overacted? Watch him scream the words: “Charlie, they took my thumb!” When he screamed that line and passed out, I thought they cut my thumb off! It’s a film classic, that almost 30 years, still holds up.
Roberts may have not gotten nominated for THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE, but he did for his role as “Buck McGeehy,” in the 1985 hit movie, “RUNAWAY TRAIN,” losing to Don Ameche for COCOON.
I have rooted for both Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts who have had their ups and downs in Hollywood, but from my perspective, their talent never wavered. To see them both still acting and “Bringing It” to their craft is impressive after 30 plus years.
At this point of my lead-in, all I can do is steal a line that I totally concur with from Mickey Rourke’s heartfelt speech from the Spirit Awards which he was awarded for his movie THE WRESTLER, a few years back: “Eric Roberts is the Fucking Man.”
Ladies and Gentlemen, MR Eric Roberts with Special Guest MRS Eliza Roberts…
