Donna Summer REMEMBERED: A Look Back at a Magical Night

March 11th, 2013 CEO

By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

On Sunday August 29th 2010, I added concert number two for the weekend events when I returned to Wolf Trap for the Performing Arts (Filene Center) to see Donna Summer perform.

If have you not been to Wolf Trap, you are in for a real treat because the seating is very comfortable and if you are under the Pavilion, there is not a bad seat in the house as I found out for Tony Bennett on Friday as well. Summer came out to a jamming band and three dancers that were dressed in marching band attire. When the curtain she was standing behind was raised, the crowd saw her in an elegant purple dress and the applause was deafening as she sang the lyrics for the opening song.

Mo’ Better Blues Star Cynda Williams: Actress, Singer & Playwright Debuts on NewzBreaker Podcast

March 5th, 2013 CEO

Hosted by “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

In 1990, Spike Lee directed a hit movie called “Mo’ Better Blues” that starred Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes in the leads. In an amazing screen debut, a beautiful and talented actress named “Cynda Williams,” appeared in the role of Clarke Bentancourt. She chewed up the scenery and, at the end of the movie, she sang an amazing track called “Harlem Blues” which hit number 9 on the R & B Charts. Her vocal, 23 plus years, stands the test of time.

On the Podcast, Cynda talks about Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, and many others she worked with over the years. Not to stop there, she talks about her amazing journey on Planet Earth and for the moms out there, you will be very touched by her thoughts on motherhood.

For our debut Podcast on NewzBreaker, we couldn’t have booked a better guest.

For Cynda’s fans out there, you can follow her on Twitter.

The Sin Warriors: Bringing A Dark, Dangerous Era To Life – Book News

March 1st, 2013 CEO

It doesn’t take much to destroy careers, pull families apart and ruin lives. As author Julian Earl Farris states: “A mix of ignorance and hatred, combined with an insatiable lust for power, will suffice. And in Florida, circa 1958, that unholy mix fermented in the Florida Legislative Investigation Committee, a.k.a. the Johns Committee.”

Family bonds, created by blood and by choice, bring both acceptance and redemption in Julian Farris’s new novel, The Sin Warriors (Lethe Press), a drama that unfolds against a backdrop of bigotry and intolerance, and based on actual events that follow a McCarthy-era demagogue who uses the threat of Communism to persecute homosexuals and ruin the lives of Florida college students and employees.

“Using blackmail, intimidation and coercion, the Johns Committee—led by segregationist state senator Charley Eugene Johns—managed to ‘disappear’ more than 300 suspected homosexual students, faculty and administrators from Florida’s public colleges, universities and schools,” says Farris.
