David Gest, the ex – husband of Liza Minnelli and music industry businessman has died suddenly at the age of 62 as first reported by TMZ.
London cops said, “Police were called at 10:17 on Tuesday to the Four Seasons Hotel, to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s. London ambulance service were called to the scene.”

Fur Babies Press Release
We would like for everyone to meet Penny. She is a 2 year old lab mix, she is spayed, up to date on her shots and microchipped. Penny lived on the streets of Tulsa for a while until her homeless owner could no longer care for her. The volunteers with “Feeding the pets of Tulsa’s homeless” all knew Penny and knew she was a good girl that deserved a good home. One of those volunteers had been in contact with the volunteers at Fur Babies Adoptions, together they were able to get Penny to a foster home in the Muskogee area. Penny needs a home of her own, her foster home has several other dogs Penny has done well with all of them except a dominant Chihuahua, so probably no small dogs in her home would be best.

A microchip is small about the size of a grain of rice. The chip is injected just under the skin of your pet, right below the collar between the shoulder blades. The injection is the same as getting a vaccination. The chip holds a very important number that is unique to your pet. When you have your pet microchipped you have to go to the manufacturer and register the chip in your name and address. You must keep this information updated if you want to be notified when your pet is found. No it will not track your pet for you. If your pet is lost for any reason, when found the pet is taken to a shelter or veterinarian and scanned with a wand.

We all have seen this on signs and advertisements. There are 1000’s of adorable mix breed and full blood animals in our shelters that need homes. They are not broken, they are not sick, they need homes. That is where rescues come in to play. A rescue that is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 nonprofit can go to the shelters and “pull” or take dogs that need homes. A good rescue will take the dog to a veterinarian for rabies shots then to a foster home until the animal is spayed or neutered. The rescue provides wormer and other vaccinations. Once all vetting is done the dog is available for adoption.

Dorothy Schwartz of the famous singing group The Chordettes died at the age of 89 on April 4th. The Chordettes were an all – female barbershop quartet formed in 1946. She was with the group for seven years and left in 1952, just prior to their smash hits “Mr. Sandman” and “Lollipop”.

Carlo Mastrangelo, who was part of the original lineup of Dion and the Belmonts, and sang on hits with them such as “No One Knows” and “A Teenager in Love,” died on Monday in Boynton Beach, Fla. He was 78. The cause was cancer, Warren Gradus, a current member of the Belmonts, said.

Author E.M. Nathanson whose hit 1965 book “The Dirty Dozen” which was turned into hit movie has died at the 88. His wife Elizabeth Henderson confirmed his death.

We’ve all heard someone say, ‘My life flashed before my eyes’, almost always at the time of a traumatic experience. Let’s define traumatic. Perhaps a person is drowning but is rescued just in time, or you swerve your car away from danger at the last second. But what if a person isn’t that lucky? What if they can’t steer to safety and are involved in a horrific accident and could not live without intervention, or they’re not pulled from the water in time and need resuscitation? That would be a near death experience.

Ok! Been away for a bit with the “Mega Riff” series. Now it’s back, and boy do we have a monster today: “No More Tears” by Ozzy Osbourne. The guitar player on this tune is none other than Zakk “I look like Odin with a guitar” Wylde. This one is special because not only does it contain the heaviest riff in Ozzy’s hallowed canon of songs, it also has an all time great solo. Wylde was the boy prodigy only a few short years prior to this 1991 classic when he debuted on 1988’s No Rest For the Wicked. The Z-Man was only 21 when that one came out and he gave us a taste of future mega riffs with songs like “Breaking All the Rules” and “Crazy Babies”. Having matured a bit since his debut, Wylde comes into his own on “No More Tears”. No longer a young gunslinger, Zakk has now earned “Guitar God” status.

Working in animal rescue we work with dogs who generally have not had veterinary care. These dogs are malnourished and sometimes very sick. Their medical care can sometimes use any spare funds the rescue has. One common disease we see in dogs is heartworms. This disease is brutal on dogs, and can quickly take their lives.
The heart of the dog actually fills with living worms. Worms that reproduce and quickly fill the heart and lungs, smothering the dog to death. The worms can break off and cause a “clot” in the main arteries and kill the dog at any given time.

Sad news to report…. Talented musician and composer Tony Conrad has died at the age of 76. Conrad, had be been battling prostate cancer and was recently hospitalized with pneumonia.

Sad news to report…. Jimmie Van Zant who was the cousin of the late lead singer, Ronnie Van Zant, from Lynyrd Skynrd has died at the age of 59. Jimmie was a musician in his own right over the years and in the end, it was liver cancer that took him a disease he had battled for years.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you that Jimmie Van Zant has passed away today holding his wife’s hand. His very close friends, Steve & Sue Prindel were alongside Jimmie & Zohra, as Jimmie transitioned.

Sad news to report. Drummer Dennis Davis has died from lung cancer which long time producer Tony Visconti s posted on Facebook.
“Dennis Davis has passed away,” Visconti wrote. “He was one of the most creative drummers I have ever worked with. He came into David Bowie’s life when we recorded some extra tracks for Young Americans and stayed with us through Scary Monsters and beyond.”
Davis also played on Bowie’s Station to Station, Low, “Heroes,” Stage, and Lodger. Aside from the Thin White Duke, his other collaborators include Jermaine Jackson, Roy Ayers, Stevie Wonder, and Iggy Pop, for whom he played on his Berlin album The Idiot.
