THE DIZZY FEET FOUNDATION, THE MUSIC CENTER AND THE JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, IN CONJUNCTION WITH CONGRESSWOMAN ELEANOR HOLMES NORTON, ANNOUNCE NATIONAL DANCE DAY CELEBRATIONS ON JULY 27, 2013

The Dizzy Feet Foundation (DFF) and two of the nation’s most renowned performing arts centers, The Music Center in Los Angeles and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., will celebrate National Dance Day (NDD) on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
Launched in 2010 by “So You Think You Can Dance” (SYTYCD) co-creator and DFF co-president Nigel Lythgoe, NDD is an annual celebration that takes place on the last Saturday in July. This grassroots campaign encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and combat obesity.
“My goal is to get people on their feet, as much for health reasons as for artistic reasons,” said Lythgoe. “National Dance Day is for everyone — individuals, families and communities — to come together, be physically active and celebrate the art of dance.”
ITCH RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “HOMELESS ROMANTIC” FEATURING ADAM LAZZARA of Taking Back Sunday ON VANS WARPED TOUR ALL SUMMER

UK artist ITCH has been building buzz for his newest US single “Homeless Romantic” featuring Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday since he premiered the audio with MTV Buzzworthy last week. Today, we get the music video featuring Lazzara’s soaring chorus, which complements ITCH’s high-velocity rhymes. Check out the music video, which was shot by Hannah Lux Davis in Los Angeles, CA here: http://youtu.be/dq_Z0NPaSiA.
“Working with Adam was awesome,” says ITCH about the collaboration. “Adam is such a soulful person and we clicked right away. He has a lot of pain in his voice which comes through – he left the booth on fire! He’s a very down to earth, humble man, but he becomes a different person with a mic in his hand.”

ONE Launches “agit8” – Breaking Music NEWS

The ONE Campaign today joined forces with dozens of musicians from across the globe to launch agit8, an urgent call for action against extreme poverty in the crucial week leading up to the G8 summit in Northern Ireland.
An extraordinary line up of artists have added their voices to the campaign by recording brand new versions of great protest songs, because protest leads to progress and bold commitments from world leaders could be life changing.
Grammy Award–winning Angelique Kidjo, special adviser to agit8 said:
“The scandal of extreme poverty and the disgrace of needless child deaths really can be ended, but it won’t happen without action now. Throughout history, we have seen great progress when people join forces to demand change. If enough people add their voices to the chorus of protest, world leaders will be forced to hear us and act.”

Gideon’s Army An Inside Look at the Criminal Justice System Through the Eyes of Idealistic Young Public Defenders in the South Debuts July 1st on HBO

In 1961, Clarence Earl Gideon was arrested for stealing soda and a few dollars from a pool hall. Unable to afford an attorney, he was convicted after representing himself at trial. Gideon appealed his conviction to the Supreme Court, which ruled unanimously that the right to counsel in a criminal case is fundamental to the American system of justice.
More than 12 million people are arrested in the United States each year. Fiftyyears after the landmark Gideon v. Wainwright case, most of them will be represented by one of the United States’ 15,000 public defenders.
Directed by attorney Dawn Porter and winner of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Editing Award for U.S. Documentary Competition, GIDEON’S ARMY follows a group of idealistic young public defenders in the Deep South, where lawyers face particularly difficult challenges due to high bonds, minimum mandatory sentencing and a culture that is traditionally “tough on crime.” The thought-provoking film debuts MONDAY, JULY 1 (9:00-10:45 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.
