Sad news to report. Character actor Joe Santos has died today at the age of 84. Santos, is best known for playing The Rockford Files‘ Lt. Dennis Becker.

According to TMZ, which first reported the death, Santos suffered a heart attack on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. He was placed on life support, and then died Friday morning in a hospital in Santa Monica.

He played in many roles and I personally loved him in the Rockford Files and in the 1992 miniseries Sinatra, where he played Frank Sinatra’s father, Anthony Martin Sinatra.
