A pre-recorded message on a British Airways flight from Miami to London sent the passengers into a panic. “This is an emergency. We will shortly be making an emergency landing on water,” the message stated.
A minute later, the crew played a second announcement, informing the passengers to ignore the warning. “My wife was crying and passengers were screaming,” stated a passenger from Scotland to The Telegraph. “I thought we were going to die!”
The flight landed safely in London. British Airways have handed out letters with apologies for the error, but one of the passengers that wish to remain anonymous is not satisfied. He wishes to only go by the name “The Emperor.”
“I was scared to death! I was in Miami, visiting my friend Brad Marchello, and it was a great time. We drove around in a stretch hummer limo, Emperor style baby, and then met up with a buddy from Arizona to sit and talk about die cast cars and model airplanes. Well, I’m from the UK and I came to the states to buy some die cast cars for myself because the best ones are in the USA, and I got quite a few nice ones and even was able to go autograph hunting with my friend from AZ. It was a trip that I could have lived forever, but when I was on my way back to London, we get this message that we are going to land in water, and, as you know, die cast cars sink! I spent 8 dollars on die cast cars with Sponge Bob on them and now this? I was furious and then we are told that we aren’t going to crash…it was a false alarm. Tell that to the back of my pants! I got their little letter and I piss on it! I will never EVER fly British Airways again. They drool and I rule!” – The Emperor
(Note: A special thanks to the Emperor for his first hand account of the situation.)
